Our mission is to bring the light of God to the poor in Africa through education, clean water, proper nutrition, health care, and offering the good news of Jesus Christ. We do not want to bring them American culture, but we do want to help provide the assistance and necessities that they need to succeed.
We want to give as many children in Kenya and Malawi as are willing an opportunity to go as far as they can in education.
Our goal is to partner each church in rural Africa with a church here in America, so that even across continents, "there may be no needy among them." We want to provide a down-to-earth, hands-on opportunity for American churches to connect with their brothers and sisters around the world.
1 John says, "If anyone among you has this world's goods and sees his brother in need and shuts up his heart to him, how does the love of God abide in him? My beloved brethren, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth." Jesus went particularly to the poor, and we must be a church that loves justice and mercy. To care for the poor and to feed the hungry is worship.
In the Old Testament, the subject of how we treat the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized, and the dispossessed.is the second most common topic after idolatry. There is more in the New Testament about what we do with our money and possessions in light of the poor than there is about heaven and hell, the Second Coming, and sexual immorality. There are over 500 verses of direct teaching on this subject in the New Testament alone. That's one verse in every 16! If we take out what the Bible says about how we treat the poor, we end up with a Bible full of holes. God's chosen fast is "to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, and to give shelter to the wanderer." (Isaiah 58?) God's passion is for the poor, and we need to share the passion of His heart.
"Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me...Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to me."
